Carwarp Solar Farm
Design validation and optimisation | High voltage connection
Project overview
Carwarp Solar Farm is a large-scale renewable energy project requiring high voltage grid connection infrastructure. Green Grid Connect was engaged to deliver the HV connection scope, supporting reliable integration into the network.
Technical Delivery
Delivery included detailed civil, structural and electrical design, installation of HV plant and equipment, transformer integration and commissioning of a 220kV substation.
Key Challenges
- Reactive soil conditions – standard bored concrete piles for OHL foundations were insufficient for the geotechnical conditions on site.
- Switchboard rating inconsistencies
Solution
GGC undertook design validation and optimisation, resolving technical gaps through revised specifications and engineering assurance. Close collaboration with stakeholders ensured compliance and performance.
Outcome
The project demonstrates GGC’s ability to de-risk complex HV connections, strengthen design integrity and deliver reliable infrastructure for utility-scale renewable projects.
